Day 1 - Eixample and Gaudi
Start at the Sagrada Familia with a pre-booked morning ticket (it sells out, and it's worst mid-afternoon). Walk up Passeig de Gracia past Casa Batllo and La Pedrera, then spend the late afternoon at Park Guell - also timed-entry, book ahead. Dinner in Gracia, the neighborhood just above the park.
Day 2 - Old town and the waterfront
Morning in the Gothic Quarter and El Born - the cathedral, Placa Sant Jaume, the Picasso Museum if that's your thing, and the Santa Caterina market for lunch. Afternoon along the waterfront to Barceloneta beach. Sunset from the top of Montjuic (cable car or bus) if you have energy.
Day 3 - Choose your pace
Slow option: La Boqueria market, the Raval, and an afternoon at the beach or the Joan Miro Foundation. Active option: a half-day trip to Montserrat (an hour out by train) for the monastery and mountain walks, back for a final dinner in the city.
How to adjust
- With kids: swap the Picasso Museum for the aquarium or the Magic Fountain show
- Foodie focus: book a tapas walking tour on Day 2 evening instead of a sit-down dinner
- Beach priority: Barcelona's city beaches are fine but Sitges (40 minutes by train) is nicer for a full beach day
- Shoulder-season heat: do Park Guell and Montserrat early, save indoor museums for the hot afternoon
